Almost ready to lift giant ladles and pour molten steel for new meltshop



After the successful startup of the first charging crane, the second one is being installed at North Star BlueScope Steel's new meltshop in Delta (OH), USA, with a lifting capacity of 310(430)/100/25 short tons. The new steel meltshop includes an EAF, LF and fume treatment plant designed by Danieli.

The cranes have been tailor-made according to the local standards (CMAA Specification 70) and are equipped with a 16-wheel bridge, with end-truck equalizing configuration. The arrangement of bridge drives is an A4 type, with "open" kinematic scheme (motor-gearbox-external brake-wheel).

Both the 615 and 616 EOT cranes were manufactured by the specialized workshop at Danieli Thailand where they were fully verified with functional test sessions of the complete equipment. North Star BlueScope Steel Team witnessed the tests remotely via Danieli Q-space1 technology.

Once the assembly is completed, expected in March 2021, the final commissioning of the crane 615 will be carried out.
