EAF and BOF charging and teeming cranes

EAF and BOF
Charging and Teeming cranes are core machines for the Steel Making process. They are designed for heavy / extra-heavy duty operation and settled to guarantee availability of more than 99%. Charging and Teeming cranes are used to feed the electric arc furnace (EOF) in the charging bay of as well as to transfer the steel ladle to the turret station of continuous casting machine (CCM) or to the ladle furnace (LF). The same type of crane is used to transfer hot metal into the basic oxygen furnace (BOF) vessels.

Danieli can provide any arrangements of Charging & Teeming cranes, in particular:
  •

  • Double-girder with main hoist only, to be selected when no ladle tilting is needed.
  •

  • Double-girder with main and auxiliary hoists arranged on the same trolley. The auxiliary hoist is needed for the tilting function and is installed on an individual frame which can eventually travel along the main trolley frame to fit with the load. Rotating trolley arrangement is adopted in case of ladle turning requirement.
  •

  • Four-girder with independent main and auxiliary trolleys. The auxiliary trolley typically runs under the main one onto its own girders located between the main ones at a lower level.
  •

These cranes are typically adopted when the crane approaches must be reduced to the minimum or in case of double-side ladle tilting arrangement. Danieli scorecard includes one of the biggest four-girder crane ever built for the metals industry (ArcelorMittal Gent Belgium - 460tons capacity).
Danieli Charging and Teeming cranes are equipped with advanced automation solutions to control and monitor crane movement's thus allowing precise but rapid handling of the dangerous loads.
