Automatic Cranes and Smart Yards

Danieli Centro Cranes has wide experience in developing "Automatic and Semi Automatic" cranes.

From APS configurations ( Assisted Positioning Systems) wherein the Crane automatically performs predetermined sequences of movements and leaving to the operator just the most critical operations, to FAS ( Fully Automated Systems) typically used for automatic storages management.

FAS Crane operations are assisted by Image Recognition Technologies, enabling the crane to positively recognize the target product, as well as by innovative crane movement and positioning sensors, which make it possible to define the crane present and target position with the required positioning precision.  

Danieli Centro Cranes has developed a technologically advanced and mechanically reliable system based on automatic cranes, various handling systems and dedicated software. This system, the Automatic Warehouse, manages in full autonomy the arrival, storage and delivery of semi-finished products, finished products (coil, slabs, etc.) and many other types of items.

The Automatic Yard is guided by Danieli WMS (Warehouse Management Software), developed by Danieli and customized for any application that allwos the interaction with trucks, train, transfer cars and any other handling equipment of the yard.

The Automatic Warehouse increases the efficiency and safety and optimizes the space while preserving the quality of the products with an impressive decrease in manpower cost.

Danieli developed several applications, from the Intermediate pipe storage to the slab yard, passing through the meltshop and the coil storage. All the solutions are focused on the positioning of the crane, using different types of sensors, but for different final applications.
From the first assisted positioning, to the Semi-automatic positioning for liquid steel ladles and the fully automatic storage with remote pulpit and artificial vision, the solutions are different and wide, integrating the anti-swaying system, the least cost trajectory technology, safety zone interdiction and the shape recognition system.

Danieli adopts the "Eyes On Technology" proprietary software developed specifically for remote, Semi-Automatic/Automatic movements. A dedicated system will synchronize the cameras installed on the crane/building to control the logistic process and ensure a comfortable remote control.

To meet the most complex situation and boost the accuracy and smart capabilities, Danieli Automatic cranes feature a special "Product Detection System" which uses a network of laser sensors and so allows a crane to "see" products and the environment while creating a 3D real-time map of the yard.

In Danieli Automatic Yards, the operators establish yard management guidelines and act only to solve critical situations, leaving the regular activities to equipment, sensors an dprogrammed intelligence. The operators are acting from a remote and centralized control pulpit. A single operator can manage multiple cranes.
