Clear and comprehensive multiline diagrams simplify maintenance time for crane operators and engineers

The electrical or multiline diagram is a fundamental engineering document that must be user-friendly and error-free, and it must support the end users in all the activities connected to the equipment itself. Indeed, the document shall include all information required for maintaining the equipment as well as for assembling and manufacturing it during fabrication in the workshop.

Nevertheless, the multiline diagram is often a very complex document, difficult to be read due to confusing arrangement of content and naming of components.

In consideration of this, Danieli Centro Cranes multiline diagrams have been developed and fine-tuned according to feedback collected during several years of investigation from operators, clients and engineers.
The objective is to reduce maintenance time by providing a document where all the info can be easily obtained and the jumping between hundreds of pages that typically constitute a multiline diagram is simplified and reduced. For example, all device IDs are based on the page number where they are placed. The same philosophy is applied to the wire numbers, all referring to the first page where the connection begins.
By using rules like these, it is easy to find a specific component within the diagram simply by knowing its tag number.

The multiline diagram also includes, on every page, the Crane Identification Number and the Mounting Location, describing the area of the crane where the device is physically installed.

This means that the operator can easily find the exact place where a device has been installed and quickly intervene starting from the scheme data, in case of troubleshooting or maintenance.
All information about Crane Identification Number and Mounting locations are summarized in a dedicated page at the beginning of each electrical diagram.

Design tool - EPLAN and articles management

All Danieli Centro Cranes electrical drawings and diagrams are made with EPLAN Electric P8, a widely available and powerful software that speeds up the engineering process and reduces to zero (theoretically) the references link mistakes. Indeed, the software logically connects circuit symbols with each other in an instant, making the design faster while increasing the quality of the final product.
The software also automatically makes detailed evaluations as an integral part of the project documentation.
Tools to automatically export/import bill of materials have been developed by Danieli Centro Cranes in order to manage thousands of parts and codes. The General Eplan Database is shared among all electrical engineers worldwide and is continuously updated in order to guarantee the engineering alignment no matter the production site.
