Danieli to supply Codelco with three new teeming cranes
Remote-operated system promotes operator safety and reliable molten-metal handling
Codelco, the National Copper Corporation of Chile, selected Danieli Centro Cranes to supply material handling for its copper production process with a fleet of three, completely unmanned teeming cranes to handle liquid copper.
This company is one of the three largest producers of copper in the world.
With the three new teeming cranes engineered and supplied by Danieli and operated from the remote pulpit, the operators will be positioned safely away from the high-risk areas where the copper smelting process take place, with sulfur dioxide gas (SO2) as by-products.
The cranes will be equipped with the EYE ON TECHNOLOGY® device, an advanced vision system that automatically monitors crane movements, and supports and assists the operator with automated functions that can be executed through crane HMI/PC.
All missions will be provided with track routing for crane movements, made in automatic mode, leaving the operator the option to "refuse" actual process steps during those movements and to return to manual crane operation from the full-size crane pulpit chair.
