Acceptance of new Danieli teeming crane at ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih plant (Ukraine)
On September 2015, after successful Commissioning and Start up, AM Kryvyi Rih (Ukraine) team released the foreseen acceptance certificate of the new Danieli 4 girders 225/63/20 ton teeming crane.
This important event sets another significant milestone in the long lasting cooperation between ArcelorMittal and Danieli, namely in the supply of "top notch" teeming cranes used in converter shops.
Teeming cranes represent the most demanding application for lifting tools in steelmaking due to the specific working conditions they are exposed to, the paramount importance of their reliability with respect to overall plant performances as well as to the specific safety requirements imposed by liquid steel handling.
Previous orders from AM, successfully concluded, refers to the 400 ton teeming cranes in operation at Dunkerque ( France), the 440 ton crane in Bremen ( Germany), the 220 ton crane in Acindar ( Argentina) and, at present under engineering, the 460 ton teeming crane for Gent ( Belgium).
In order to enhance its reliability and safety features , the crane supplied to the Ukrainian plant includes redundant configuration for main lifting with double motor, each fully dimensioned for max lifting, and double reducer.
Drums are mechanically connected to ensure crane operative conditions also in case of failure of any of the elements of the 2 kinematic chains.
Dimensioned according A7/M7 FEM class, the new crane features a 16 meters span and has been conceived considering extreme local temperatures, as low as 40 C below freezing point, both from crane structural resilience point of view as well as concerning specific features for operator comfort and conditioning of electrical rooms ( container type).
Customized design for secondary trolley arrangement has been developed in order to reduce overall crane height and comply with existing building constrains.
