New important order from MKE, Turkey

Danieli Centro Cranes will supply to MKE (Makina ve Kimya Endüstrisi Kurumu), Turkey, the complete cranes package for the new meltshop ordered to Danieli group on a turnkey basis, conceived to produce up to 120,000 tpy of liquid steel for ingot casting. The new steelmaking shop will be installed at MKE Agır Silah ve Çelik Fabrikası- Kırıkkale located at about 80 km from Ankara.
The renovation of the steel complex will benefit from the long tradition of high-quality metallurgical industry in the Kırıkkale district, and from the plant's strategic location. The new facilities will include all technological process equipment for melting and refining of high-quality special steel to be cast as ingots from 2.5 t to 30 t weight, providing a more flexible and economical production process, and replacing the ingots that used to be purchased from external markets with ingots produced by the plant itself, for further processing in downstream existing facilities.
The complete cranes package includes:
Two 10 ton scrap yard cranes
One 65/15/3,2 ton charging and teeming crane
One 25/65 ton ingot stripping crane
One 10 ton under hung crane for Vacuum degasser pump maintenance
Plus all jib cranes and hoists used in the new facility.
This steel mill will enable MKE to enter in the production of high-quality forged steel, tool steel and stainless steel. According to data from the Ministry of Economy, this new meltshop will be providing approximately 90 thousand tons of the total annual Turkish forged steel needs of 300 thousand t.
In his speech at the contract signing ceremony, Mr. Izzet Ertunç, General Director of MKE, said that the with the new Kırıkkale steel mill, an important asset for the company and the nation will be rebuilt.
The strategic importance of this project is one of the reasons why the MKE decided to place the order to Danieli on turn-key basis, in order to have a single technical interface in charge of the supply, erection and commissioning of the full facility.
A significant part of the manufacturing will be executed in Danieli Termomakina qualified workshops in Turkey, Danieli Centro Cranes manufacturing hub for Turkey and MENA region.
